Malia is a small seaside town, 36 kilometres east of Heraklion. It has approximately 3,750 permanent residents and is the seat of the Municipality.

On the coast road from Malia to Stalida, extending as far as the western limits of the Municipality, you can try traditional dishes with your friends in dozens of tavernas and enjoy yourself in outdoor bars and beachfront cafés, to soft music blending with the sough of the waves. If you want more, you can go partying in the clubs and bars of Malia.

The celebrated and beautiful beaches of Malia Municipality, with their fine golden sand and clear blue sea, spread across 6 kilometres of coastline, from picturesque Stalida to the famous Potamos beach west of the archaeological site.All the beaches have tourist facilities and offer wonderful moments of peace, relaxation and fun.
